It’s silly to think the IPL, despite its ever-expanding line up of disgraceful sideshows, is still about cricket
After the final extravaganza, the IPL well and truly feels like a job one does only for the money. But perhaps, that’s only to be expected. After all, Commissioner Lalit Modi’s league is pretty much that. If one had a choice one wouldn’t subject oneself to it. Sadly, most players and spectators don’t. The people watching watch because they have nothing better to amuse themselves with. And the players tolerate Modi’s shenanigans because he’s bankrolling their future. Period. Why, then, is one getting so steamed up over the hour and a half of unadulterated bilge one had to put up with from the likes of Akon, Eddy Grant and Katrina Kaif when all one was there for was to see the players being given their due? Silly me for thinking this tournament, despite its ever-expanding line up of disgraceful sideshows, is still about cricket.
