Indians have been downloading raunchy material on their iPhones and iPods, but oddly much to their dissatisfaction.
How do Indians entertain themselves on their iPhones and iPods? What applications do they use? The answer isn’t surprising. They like sex. The iTunes store, from where owners of Apple’s hardware buy media, has over 100,000 applications for iPhones and iPod devices. The online store tells visitors what programmes are popular in their country, both which are free and which are not. It reveals preferences according to categories.
iTunes doesn’t do nudity, but this hasn’t stopped Indians from downloading everything from Naughty Hotties to Pocket Girlfriend. There is demand for raunchy jokes in the toned-down form of Sex Jokes Extreme Lite, as well as dating advice from What Women Want.
Most of these experiences end unhappily. Some are so unsatisfying that Indian consumers, whose stoical approach to bad products is legendary, are moved to post reviews. After downloading SuicideGirls—a flip and strip application—one wrote, ‘The title describes it. You’ll commit suicide after you download this application.’
