Sonam refused to go along with the scene, despite Pankaj’s persuasive powers and even a talking-to from her dad Anil Kapoor. Seems Anil gave up and told Pankaj there was nothing he could do. Sonam has her reasons, says a close friend. She plays a demure Muslim girl and felt it would go against character to do a smooch-fest. Shahid is facing the music: he apparently went to town crowing over how he was notching up one more kissing scene in his career. Now he’s been stonewalled by Sonam. Attagirl!
