Gulmarg has always been considered the heartland of winter sports in India with its ski lodges attracting adventure enthusiasts from across the globe. And now, Gulmarg has been ranked seventh on CNNGo’s (CNN International’s travel portal) list of the top 10 ski destinations in Asia. The selection team believes Gulmarg attracts ski bums tired of Alpine lift queues and fondues. “Because the Gulmarg resort from the Himalayas is so unique, it was a natural choice for us to include in this list,” says Andrew Demaria, editor-in-chief, CNNGo.

Other top rankers on the list include Appi Kogen and Niseko Rusutsu from Japan.
