Chotu can heave a sigh of relief. After being convicted in 2003 for barking at and biting a man, this eight-year-old mongrel has finally got justice.
Six years down the line, Chotu can heave a sigh of relief. After being convicted in 2003 for barking at and biting a man, this eight-year-old mongrel has finally got justice. Chotu had been condemned to death by a court in Purnia, Bihar, five years ago but animal right activists protested. The case dragged on for years and finally, his lawyer Dilip Kumar Deepak got him his freedom. Accompanied by his owner, Rajkumari Devi, Chotu was the image of submissiveness and compliance as he heard the chargesheet read out in court. The magistrate observed that Chotu hadn’t tried to bite anyone in the court.
