Hearing-impaired employees at Mirakle Couriers deliver packets and parcels with total hush and lightning speed across Mumbai city.
‘Delivering Possibilities’ is their tag line. And they do. All six days of the week, when each of the hearing-impaired employees at Mirakle Couriers, deliver packets and parcels with total hush and lightning speed across Mumbai city. Yes, you heard right. Every employee at this courier company is partially or profoundly deaf. But sign language, road sense, placards printed with words like ‘hello’ and ‘thank you’, and the ability to communicate over SMS helps the team of 35 overcome the limitations of a silent existence.
The idea of pushing the envelopes and operating in this breakneck business began when Dhruv Lakra, an Oxford MBA and former investment banker, opted for ‘social entrepreneurship’.
For six months, the Mirakle team has been delivering with accuracy. Now, they’re hoping to expand to other cities. Be prepared to open your door to a delivery boy in an orange T shirt, holding out your package and a hello sign.
