This may come as a surprise to residents in the Capital, but according to a recent survey commissioned by Siemens, Delhi generates the lowest per capita waste in Asia. The Asian Green City Index analysed the environmental sustainability of 22 cities in Asia, and found Delhi’s waste management efforts commendable. ‘The city’s advanced policies, including one of the more robust strategies to reduce, reuse and recycle waste also demonstrate how much can be achieved with limited resources,’ stated the survey. Singapore was rated as Asia’s greenest city, while Bangalore was surprisingly found to have the lowest per capita carbon emission.
