If we didn’t know better, we’d say India is finally coming of age. A local NGO in Ahmedabad has organised a meet on 20 November to help find live-in partners for lonely singles above the age of 50. The alliance meet is advocating live-ins, so that singles can gauge whether they will be compatible with their chosen one before they decide to get married. But there are strict rules to prevent “mischief”. “Men may take advantage of the arrangement, sexually exploit a woman and then say that he does not want to marry her. For this, we have laid down rules… to ensure that women are not exploited,” says Natu Patel of the Vina Mulya Amulya Seva. He also says that only men with financial stability and regular income above Rs 15,000 per month would be allowed. Around 300 men and 50 women are expected to attend.
