Before the state Assembly election on 13 October, the Satara-based Maharashtra Andhashraddha Nirmulan Samiti (Mans), or Superstition Eradication Committee, organised a contest for astrologers to predict the results of the election. The prize: Rs 21 lakh. Despite extending the time given, Mans says not one of the 50-odd applications so far gives the answers in accordance with the rules.
