It is party time at Meghalaya’s Raj Bhavan for all those turning 100.
It is party time at Meghalaya’s Raj Bhavan for all those turning 100. The state Governor, RS Mooshahary, is inviting all people of the state to hold their centenary celebrations at his residence. He believes Meghalayans live longer because of their traditional food. According to him, the richness of the indigenous cuisine stems from the lush biodiversity of the state. “There are hundreds of flowering plants and herbs like the Lakadong turmeric which grow only here, and hence need to be preserved,” he says. Mooshahary believes centenary celebrations of this kind will motivate people to take care of their environment and local resources.
