I am Rudhra Sri, and I identify myself as a transgender.
I am Rudhra Sri, and I identify myself as a transgender. I am a graduate in business administration from a reputed college in Chennai, and previously worked as a project coordinator at an NGO. Now, in my ‘trans’ identity, I work as an accounts officer at Swam (Social Welfare Association for Men). I am proud to be a social activist. My aim, though, is to become a good film editor and someday work on promising movies.
I would love to be an example to my community and a role model for my generation. As part of the transgender community, I have faced discrimination from society and lost the love of my family. My humble request to all parents: accept your children and don’t make them suffer and crave your love and care. And my request to the people of my community: don’t lose hope, don’t slip into despair, and do not indulge in immoral activities that we’ve been stereotyped with, such as begging or commercial sex work.
I want to show you what an ordinary day is like for me.
