Razia of Nanglakhumba in Meerut District used to stitch footballs as a child, like many other girls in her village. She is now a youth leader, running a door-to-door campaign to spread awareness of the importance of education and urge parents to send their children to school. In July, on the occasion of Malala Day, Razia was awarded the UN Special Envoy for Global Education’s Youth Courage Award for Education.
