An Unlikely Obsession

Quincy Kendell Charles at Kathak practice in his Lajpat Nagar home, Delhi. He started learning this dance form at the age of 14 in Trinidad, his birthplace, and then trained under Lucknow Gharana Guru Pandit Jai Kishan Maharaj and Jaipur Gharana Guru Prerana Shrimali in India. As a Kathak performer, teacher and mentor, Charles has conducted international workshops and participated in many festivals across the globe. Currently the artistic director of Ganapathi Tapasya Kalaa Shaalaa, New Delhi, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from University of Kent, but says he is obsessed with his “love at first sight”
