Usha Martin University, Ranchi

Usha Martin University was established vide Usha Martin University (UMU), Jharkhand Act 2012. It is recognized by the University Grants Commission as a self-financing Private University empowered to award certificates, diplomas and degrees. In addition, professional programmes such as B Pharmacy and LLB, offered by UMU, are recognized by national regulating bodies such as Pharmacy Council of India and Bar Council of India, respectively. The UMU is also member of Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi.

To carry its mandate of providing inclusive quality higher education in different fields for sustainable development of the society and be in conformity with the priorities of the Ministry of Education, Government of Jharkhand, the University offers a wide range of professional programmes at UG and PG levels apart from Ph. D in Chemistry, Commerce, Computer Science, Education, English, Management, Mathematics and Physics following UGC guidelines. The University proposes to add PhD programmes in Pharmacy, Journalism and Mass Communication and Law as well as BSc( Nursing), ANM and GNM in 2021 academic session subject to approval by the State Nursing Council.

The University believes in developing and harnessing local talent to encourage social re-engineering. While appointing faculty, emphasis is placed on their caliber, research capabilities and experience. As of now, we have 33 PhD holders (and a few more are to be awarded soon). They are dedicated to independent discipline based research as well as inter-disciplinary group research. The faculty is also engaged in guiding research and the research papers are preferably published in Scopus journals and international conferences.

The University provides rich learning experiences to its learners where issues are discussed in a fair and frank environment with the faculty as well as through interaction with the experts from the corporate world. The University has put special emphasis on technology supported learning environment to foster interactivity and learner feedback.

The University provides scholarship to the students from the state as well as to meritorious students so as to offer cost-effective quality education so as to discourage students from going out of the state to pursue higher education particularly in the Covid period.

The University has now relocated to its newly constructed campus spread over 34 acres at village Narayansoso, Angara Block office, Ranchi-Purulia highway, Ranchi in the lap of nature. It has excellent facilities for teaching-learning as well as sports. To cater to hygiene issues, excellent canteen has been developed. Similarly, separate hostels for boys and girls are available on the campus.

The University shall strive to promote innovative strategies for seamless dissemination and creation of knowledge using latest techniques, available media and technologies so that its graduates acquire skills to get suitable employment and contribute with a sense of service to national and global knowledge pool.
