Before we talk about the larger vision, what exactly is Aurum?
Aurum is a boutique, clinician-led network of senior and assisted living residences in Gurugram—Aurum Haven and Aurum Springs—where seniors live in private suites and studio apartments designed for comfort, dignity, and 24×7 medical assurance. It combines the warmth of home with the precision of hospitalgrade oversight. Every resident has access to on-site nurses, physiotherapists, caregivers, and doctors. It’s not retirement living; it’s reassured living—where safety, healthcare, and happiness are built into the design.
India is young, yet rapidly ageing. Why is senior living an “icon of change” story today?
Because it’s about the kind of country we want to become. Longevity without quality is a missed opportunity. When seniors live with dignity, purpose, and dependable care, families thrive, women re-enter the workforce, and healthcare shifts from crisis response to prevention. Senior living is social infrastructure—and a quiet engine for jobs, skilling and innovation.
What gap did Aurum set out to fill?
Two, actually. First, the emotional gap. Seniors today are living longer but often lonelier lives— children working abroad, families nuclear, and social circles shrinking. Many don’t need hospitals; they need companionship, safety, and a sense of belonging. Aurum bridges that space— it’s not a medical facility, it’s a home, purpose-built to bring comfort, care, and community under one roof.

The second gap was professional care delivery. We wanted a clinician-led model where protocols, vitals, and escalation pathways are guided by senior doctors, not left to chance. At Aurum Haven (South City–2) and Aurum Springs (Sector 49) in Gurugram, seniors live in private suites and studios with 24×7 support, but the experience feels warm, familiar, and dignified—not institutional.
“Clinician-led” sounds rigorous. How does it change daily life for a resident?
It makes life calmer. Medicines are on time, vitals are tracked, and small concerns are addressed before they become big ones. We combine ADL assistance with physiotherapy, cognition-friendly routines, and meaningful engagement—music, fitness, reading clubs, satsang, hobbies. Evidence guides the system; empathy sets the tone.
Memory care and post-operative recovery are rising needs. What’s distinctive about your approach?
Structure and simplicity. Orientation cues, familiar routines and music can lower anxiety and improve participation. For post-op recovery, we emphasize early mobilization, nutrition, and adherence, under medical supervision. Our goal is safe independence—not dependence.
Families often worry about communication.
Rightly so. We assign a single point of contact who shares clear updates and next steps. Transparency is non-negotiable. Families should be able to visit more and worry less.
What leadership underpins Aurum’s model?
Aurum is anchored by senior clinicians. I bring interventional cardiology experience with the rare distinction of five U.S. board certifications. Our founder, Dr. Umesh Gupta, is among Delhi-NCR’s most respected cardiologists. Dr. Kalpana Gupta, the guiding force behind Aurum, brings a deeply personal and human touch to every element—ensuring the residences exude warmth, comfort, and the feeling of home in every detail. And Dr. Sonia Lal Gupta, senior neurologist with four U.S. board certifications, anchors cognition-friendly routines and memory-care readiness.
How do you see senior living shaping India’s future?
By professionalizing care, creating skilling pathways for caregivers and physios, and easing pressure on hospitals and families. It unlocks economic value through jobs and wellbeing, and it expresses who we are as a society—grateful, modern, and compassionate.
And your one-line promise to families?
Peace of mind you can feel—in the routine, the smiles, and the steadiness of care.
