Future of education lies in personalized learning
Dr. Davish Jain, Chairman Prestige Education Foundation, Chancellor, Prestige University, Indore
Education is not merely about gaining knowledge, obtaining degrees, attaining ranks and getting plum jobs. In fact, it has far wider connotations which, if pursued, practiced and spread in a better way with an honest intention to further increase its outreach and making it accessible to one and all without exerting financial burden, Education can literally propel a nation to an unimaginable height of glory and successes in terms of socioeconomic, cultural and moral upliftment of any country and its people.
Dr Davish Jain, the leading Edupreneur of Central India, is undoubtedly one of the Change Makers who has literally metamorphosed the academic landscape of Madhya Pradesh through his visionary academic practices. The success of the Prestige Institute of Management and Research and other institutions being run by the Prestige Education Foundation across Madhya Pradesh, is a testimony to this fact.
Dr Davish Jain, Chancellor, Prestige University and Chairman, Prestige Education Foundation, Indore to share his vision on education, research and innovations, use of technologies in education and also about the academic practices being pursued by the PIMR, Prestige University and other institutions.
Q. Can you tell us about the best teaching practices being adopted in Prestige Institute of Management and Research and all other institutions run by the Prestige Education Foundation?
At Prestige, we focus on practical and experiential learning. We believe that students learn best by doing. Therefore, we encourage our faculty to design courses that involve hands-on projects, case studies, simulations, and internships. We also promote peer-to-peer learning, where students work in teams and learn from each other’s experiences.
PIMR has played a pioneering role in building the edifice of high professional and business oriented professional management education and has contributed to Indore being transformed into a national education hub.
Q. That sounds interesting. Can you give us an example of how this approach is being implemented in your institutions?
Sure. In our MBA programme, we have a course called “Entrepreneurship and Innovation”. In this course, students are required to develop a business plan and present it to a panel of investors. The panel comprises successful entrepreneurs, industrialists who provide feedback and suggestions to the students. This not only gives students practical experience in entrepreneurship but also exposes them to the real-world challenges faced by entrepreneurs.
Q. That’s impressive. What is your vision for futuristic education, research, and innovations?
I believe that the future of education lies in personalized learning. With the advent of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Virtual Reality, we can create customized learning experiences for each student based on their learning style, interests, and abilities. This will help us to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world applications.
Our placement record has been very encouraging with several leading national and global companies from manufacturing, services and finance sectors coming annually for campus
interviews. We groom our students to become eventual flag bearers of the Institute with pride as highly successful professionals and entrepreneurs.
Q. How do you plan to incorporate these emerging technologies in higher education?
We are already working on using some of these technologies in our institutions. We are planning to develop a Virtual Reality lab where students can experience simulations of real-world scenarios. We are also using Machine Learning algorithms to analyze student data and provide personalized feedback and recommendations. In the future, we plan to use Artificial Intelligence to design intelligent tutoring systems that can adapt to the learning needs of each student.
Q. That’s fascinating. How do you see the role of research in higher education?
Research is the backbone of higher education. It is through research that we discover new knowledge and push the boundaries of human understanding. At Prestige, we encourage our faculty and students to engage in research activities. We provide them with the necessary resources and infrastructure to conduct cuttingedge research in their respective fields.
