BRAHMOS with its well-proven capabilities remains the ‘weapon of choice’ for the Indian Armed Forces. At the same time, the missile has continuously evolved by infusing more advanced features and cutting-edge technologies to meet divergent, highly complex conflict environments of modern times.
Astrong military force is indispensable for a peaceful, prosperous and stable nation. India’s all-round growth, prosperity and stability has been fortified by its growing military power and strength. The nation has swiftly marched ahead to build and sustain a highly modernised military force capable of decisively dealing with multi-faceted conflict situations of 21st century.
The combat readiness of Indian Armed Forces has been galvanized with the swift induction of cutting-edge military platforms, weapons and systems. Military modernisation goals have rightfully been aligned with indigenisation efforts to build an ‘Atma Nirbhar, Sashakt Bharat’.
As the most powerful deterrent weapon, supersonic cruise missile BRAHMOS has significantly strengthened India’s defence preparedness in modern times. The precision strike missile, actively deployed by all three Services of Indian military, has provided a formidable capability to strike down strategic enemy targets and positions from stand-off ranges across land, sea and air.
Developed as a Joint Venture (JV) military-technological programme involving India’s DRDO and Russia’s NPOM, the versatile BRAHMOS with its incredible ‘speed, precision, firepower, stealth & range’ matrix, has validated its supremacy to redefined modern warfare strategies and dynamics.
The universal BRAHMOS has carved a niche for itself by becoming India’s ultimate force multiplier asset to undertake modern network-centric warfare operations in highly complex war zones. Today, India is the only country in the world to actively deploy a “supersonic cruise missile triad.”
Since its maiden successful test firing conducted on June 12, 2001, the powerful tactical weapon has evolved and incorporated several technological advancements and other refinements to improve its operational and functional efficacy.
A series of successful test firings of the weapon conducted in 2022 from frontline ground, naval and air platforms of Indian military has reaffirmed the missile’s enhanced capabilities and ensured its superlative performance.
BRAHMOS AEROSPACE – the India-Russia JV entity designing and producing the universal BRAHMOS WEAPON SYSTEM – has steadily infused indigenous technologies and components in the missile system in close coordination with DRDO. The successful indigenisation programme has bolstered national security apparatus even while reducing the overall production, operation and maintenance costs of the powerful missile system.
“BRAHMOS with its well-proven capabilities remains the ‘weapon of choice’ for the Indian Armed Forces. At the same time, the missile has continuously evolved by infusing more advanced features and cutting-edge technologies to meet divergent, highly complex conflict environments of modern times.
As a ‘new-age’ weapon, BRAHMOS has immensely strengthened India’s deterrent power in 21st century,” says Shri Atul D Rane, Director General, BrahMos, DRDO and CEO & MD, BrahMos Aerospace.
The supersonic cruise missile in the meantime has also carved its global footprint by becoming India’s first full-scale weapon to receive a historic export order from the Republic of Philippines.
BrahMos Aerospace is all set to deliver the world’s ‘fastest and deadliest’ tactical weapon to a third party, friendly foreign customer nation, thereby heralding India’s landmark entry in the international arms market.
