An all-in-one Bluetooth handsfree kit that needs to be charged twice a day
There was a time when people stared at you if you wore a Bluetooth handsfree kit. But today they are ubiquitous. In fact, a lot of them are also being designed specifically as fashionable accessories for men and women. But so far, most of them are good only for taking calls, not for listening to music, because they were devised for one ear only. The BackBeat Go from Plantronics, like a growing number of other Bluetooth devices, wants to be called an ‘all in one Bluetooth handsfree’.
It is designed for those who like to listen to music on the move, and also have to attend to phone calls at the same time. With this device, they don’t have to take off their headset to take calls. The BackBeat Go offers premium quality sound, convenience and a design that is unisex.
It is available only in black colour. It is comfortable, lightweight (13 gm) and boasts of excellent voice quality and noise cancellation. The tangle-free cord works well and the music notes from its earphones are clear and crisp. I did not like its rubberised ear buds. I found them uncomfortable, as did almost everyone else who I gave these to try out. You may feel even more miserable if you have a narrow ear canal. I don’t, and was okay with these buds once I got used to them.
The handsfree kit has an inline control, which you sort of miss the first time round. It has three buttons to increase/decrease volume, stop/play music and end/answer a call.
The biggest downside to this good-looking device is its battery. It has a total listening/talk time of only 4.5 hours. If you are even a moderate user, you will have to charge it at least twice a day.
