Encased in an all-metal shell, the MX5 is finished beautifully using a 3D sand blast with a 5-step anodising process to produce a superb fine polish that makes the phone feel great in one’s hand.
This phone features a beautiful 5.5-inch full high-definition Amoled screen that is sharp, bright and produces vivid colours with a contrast ratio of 10,000:1. You can also change the colour temperature of the display from warmer hues to cooler ones.
The rear 20 MP camera, with its two-tone flash and laser-assisted focus, is fast and allows you to take some amazing pictures both on bright sunny days as well as late in the evenings. The front camera has 5 MP sensors with a large f/2.0 aperture that works very well for those late evening Skype calls.
On the inside, the MX5 uses the Mediatek helio X10 64 bit octa-core processor running at 2.2 GHz, and thanks to its integration with the Flyme OS 4.5 from Meizu, the phone runs super fast. Battery performance is optimised to last you a full day.
Also worth mentioning is the MX5’s fingerprint sensor. Capable of storing more than two fingerprints, it allows one to unlock the phone with either one’s left or right thumb, depending on which hand one is holding the phone with.
The MX5 has dual-SIM capacity. The primary SIM card provides you with 4G coverage, while the second supports 2G voice calls. What the MX5 does not do is take additional storage. With data clouds and high- speed internet links, this is not really a problem, but at times you want to store more than what its in-built 64 GB will allow. Cheaper 32 and 16 GB versions are also available.
The MX5 is available in grey, silver white, silver black and gold colour options.
