I love HTC. Over the years, it has made some fantastic devices, and the Sensation is no different—if anything, it is HTC’s best phone so far.
The Sensation runs an Android 2.3 on a Dual Core 1.2 GHz processor. It is based on a Qualcomm platform, which is fast though not as fast as the nVidia. But it still delivers a brilliant multimedia experience.
Its Super LCD display supports Quarter HD (qHD), which means it has 35 per cent more pixels than a normal LCD. While Super AMOLED is now the in-thing, the display on all Sensation is still gorgeous. HTC Sense—its user interface—is also great, and its newest version is even better. An interesting feature is a lock screen that can be customised. You can choose to have on it things like updates from social media sites, or the weather app and even shortcuts to your favourite apps and features.
This phone is not just about good looks and a nice interface. HTC has added many features to it and improved some old ones. A nice feature is the Zero Wait Map, which stores maps in the phone so you don’t have to wait for them to download every time. Now why did no one else think of this? Here’s another great feature: the ringing volume of this phone goes up when you put it in a bag—so you can hear it ringing. When you take it out, the volume goes down.
But there are a few chinks in this otherwise nice phone. Its 8 megapixel camera has a dual LED flash, and can record full HD videos, but its image quality leaves a lot to be desired.
Its internal memory is only 1 GB. For your applications, then, only 500 MB is available. If you don’t manage the apps well or open too many together, the phone will slow down.
However, with all its failings, the phone will still appeal to those who are looking for an Android device that is fast and does not compromise on design and user experience.
