An ultra thin tablet optimised for business applications
This business-oriented tablet from HP is designed to evolve as your usage evolves. The ElitePad 900 is available in two variants—one with 32GB storage and the other with 64GB—both of which can be expanded by an additional 32 GB using a micro SD card. Its battery is designed to run for eight hours on a single charge, and it has a SIM slot for 3G connectivity. Other than the standard Bluetooth and wireless capabilities, the ElitePad also has NFC and runs Windows 8 Professional Edition.
The ElitePad comes with stereo speakers and a microphone; a 10.1 inch touchscreen with 1280x800p resolution; a rear camera that can shoot up to 8 megapixels; an LED flash; a front camera; as well as a 3.5 mm jack. HP has also made a whole lot of accessories available for this tablet—an optional smart jacket that not only adds full SD card, HDMI and USB support, but also an additional 10 hours of battery life; another jacket that adds a keyboard to turn it into a regular laptop; a dock that can connect to ethernet an offers an HDMI or a VGA out; and even a pen to take notes on it.
The ultra thin ElitePad weighs about 680 gm, and its tough unibody matches 810-G specs for military testing—it can survive a drop as well as exposure to low temperatures. Its glass panel uses Gorilla glass 2 from Corning and is scratch- and smudge-resistant. Its client security manager software includes a number of useful packages like a credential manager, password manager and device access manager with just-in-time authentication and drive encryption. This tablet runs on an Atom Dual Core processor, which is good enough for day-to-day tasks, but if you need to run the latest version of Adobe’s Photoshop, or a high end 3D modelling tool, this is not for you.
