Constitutional legitimacy versus political opportunism
The pineapple-rolling ritual is associated with ushering in prosperity, while the nadaswaram, a traditional South Indian wind instrument, added a local cultural touch to the event.
Focus on Digital Infrastructure
The data centre comes amid growing demand for digital infrastructure as cloud computing, artificial intelligence and other technology-driven services expand.
The development also underscores Singapore and India’s efforts to strengthen investment and business partnerships, with Tamil Nadu emerging as an important destination for foreign investment.
Singapore-Tamil Nadu Ties
Earlier, on October 5, Wong met Vijay in Chennai and conveyed Singapore’s congratulations on his assumption of office as Tamil Nadu chief minister.
In a post on X after the meeting, Wong said he had conveyed Singapore’s “warm congratulations” and best wishes for Vijay’s tenure.
Highlighting the longstanding relationship between Singapore and Tamil Nadu, Wong said the two were “bound by deep historical, cultural, and economic ties”.
“As the largest foreign investor in Tamil Nadu, we look forward to building on this strong foundation in the years ahead,” he added.
