The 2026 edition of TIME magazine’s annual TIME100 list has spotlighted three prominent Indian names—Sundar Pichai, Ranbir Kapoor, and Vikas Khanna—recognising their global influence across technology, cinema and culinary arts.
The list, released on April 15, celebrates individuals shaping the world across sectors such as finance, entertainment, sports, activism and academia, reinforcing India’s growing global footprint.
The TIME100 list by TIME is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious global recognitions of influence. It does not rank individuals but instead curates those who are driving change, shaping narratives and impacting societies worldwide.
In 2026, the list once again reflects a diverse mix of global leaders, creators and changemakers, including figures like Ralph Lauren, Kate Hudson, Ethan Hawke, Mark Kelly and Hilary Knight.
Ranbir Kapoor’s inclusion highlights his evolving role as a global cultural figure in Indian cinema. His profile in the TIME100 was penned by actor Ayushmann Khurrana, who praised Kapoor’s subtle yet powerful craft.
“There are actors who chase legacy and there are actors who become one through their craft. Ranbir Kapoor is the latter. In an industry as prolific and passionate as Indian cinema, we often measure greatness in decibels--box-office numbers, fan frenzy, opening weekends. But every once in a while, an actor shifts something quieter yet far more enduring: our emotional vocabulary as an audience. Ranbir has been doing that film after film. In a world where performances are often amplified, Ranbir internalises. He shows our culture through quiet restraint. He represents the India that is finally learning how to listen to itself and leaves a mark through simple authenticity. Globally, actors like Ranbir become important cultural bridges. He embodies an India that is evolving not just in scale but also in sensitivity. Our cinema is influencing the world. Ranbir isn't just a movie star--he's a storyteller talking to a global audience and telling them stories of a fabled, mythical country where epics like The Ramayana have inspired other civilisations and cultures,” Ayushmann wrote.

And the price of surviving it
Ranbir Kapoor is yet to publicly react to the honour.
Celebrity chef Vikas Khanna welcomed the recognition as both a personal and national milestone, linking his success to his family and India’s culinary heritage.
"Being on the 2026 TIME100 list of the most influential people in the world is a matter of immense pride for me. I owe this recognition to my grandmother, mother, and sister; they always believed in me, and it is their sacrifices, blessings, and guidance that have helped me reach where I am today. This achievement is a victory for India and our culinary legacy that is appreciated by people across the world. With this honour, I hope to inspire the people of my country to follow their ambition and represent India on the global stage,” he said.
Sundar Pichai’s presence on the list underscores the continued global influence of Indian-origin leaders in technology. As CEO of Google and its parent Alphabet Inc., Pichai has played a key role in shaping the future of artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure and global tech policy.
His inclusion reflects not just corporate leadership but also the broader impact of Big Tech on everyday life worldwide.
The presence of figures like Ranbir Kapoor, Vikas Khanna and Sundar Pichai on the TIME100 list signals India’s expanding influence beyond traditional domains.
From storytelling and cuisine to technology and innovation, Indian voices are increasingly shaping global conversations, reflecting a shift in how the world engages with India’s cultural and intellectual capital.
