Terming the mandate “spectacular,” the Prime Minister said the party would strive to meet the aspirations of the people, assuring that its government would ensure opportunity and dignity for all sections of society.

Praising party workers, he wrote, "BJP's record win in West Bengal would not be possible without the efforts and struggles of countless Karyakartas over generations. I salute them all. For years, they have worked hard on the ground, overcome all sorts of adversities and spoken about our development agenda. They are the strength of our party."

As of 6 pm, the BJP was ahead in 205 seats in Bengal, a sharp rise from 77 in 2021. This positions the party to form a government in the state for the first time, defeating Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress, which had governed for three consecutive terms.

According to the latest trends, the BJP is set to cross the halfway mark of 148 seats, emerging as the single largest party in the Assembly.

The party has secured 15 seats and is leading in 185 constituencies, while the Trinamool Congress holds 6 seats and is ahead in 81 constituencies, taking its total to 87.

In Assam, the BJP continued its dominance, winning 23 seats and leading in 59 constituencies out of 82 contested. In Puducherry, the party secured a second consecutive term, reinforcing its expanding political footprint across the country.
