Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday expressed gratitude towards Gulf nations for assisting Indians residing there amid the ongoing West Asia conflict, while cautioning that a global petrol and diesel crisis was emerging due to disruptions in key energy regions.
In the 132nd episode of his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat, the Prime Minister also urged political parties and citizens to refrain from politicising the situation and warned against the spread of rumours.
“We all expected that, after emerging from the Covid crisis, the world would move forward on the path of progress with a fresh start, but in the different regions of the world, conditions of war and conflict continued to emerge,” the Prime Minister added.
Highlighting the impact of the conflict on Indian nationals abroad, he added, “Currently, a fierce war has been going on for a month in our neighbourhood. Relatives of lakhs of families reside in these countries, and particularly work in the Gulf countries. I am grateful to Gulf countries for providing every kind of assistance to over one crore Indians there.”

He noted that the conflict-hit region remains central to India’s energy needs and warned of its wider implications.
“The region where the war is underway is a major hub of our energy needs. Due to this, a petrol and diesel crisis is developing worldwide,” he said.
Emphasising India’s preparedness, the Prime Minister said the country’s global partnerships and internal strengths have helped it withstand the situation.
“Our global relations, the support we receive from various countries, and the strengths we have built over the past decade have enabled India to face these challenges resolutely,” he said.
“These are certainly challenging times. Today, through 'Mann Ki Baat,' I will once again urge all my countrymen that we must unite and overcome this challenge,” he added.
“I am confident that just as we have always overcome past crises, through the collective strength of the country’s 140 crore citizens, this time too, we will overcome these difficult circumstances with great success,” PM Modi said..
In a veiled criticism of the opposition, the Prime Minister said there was “no place for self-serving politics” on the issue.
“All those politicising the issue should not do it. This issue is connected to the interests of 140 crore Indians, and there is no place for self-serving politics,” he said.
“All those spreading rumours are causing great harm to the country. I would also like to appeal to all countrymen to remain vigilant and not be misled by rumours. Trust the constant information provided by the government and take action based on that,” he added.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the Gyan Bharatam Survey, aimed at documenting the country’s manuscript heritage.
“The Gyan Bharatam Survey, which is related to our great culture and rich heritage. Its objective is to collect information about manuscripts across the country. One way to join this survey is through the Gyan Bharatam app. If you have any manuscript or any information about it, then do share its picture on the 'Gyan Bharatam App',” PM Modi said.
