BJP to Hold Review Meeting on SIR Campaign and INDIA Bloc Protests

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is holding a meeting at its headquarters in New Delhi on Thursday at 3 pm to review preparations and assess the progress of its campaign on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and the Opposition’s protests.
Union Ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Ashwini Vaishnaw, along with other senior leaders linked to the campaign, are expected to attend.
The meeting will review how the campaign is going, check organisational preparedness and discuss the party’s strategy to counter the Opposition’s protests over the SIR. The BJP has been working to put forward its position on the revision as Opposition parties object to the process.

NABIN WITH THE GENERAL SECRETARIES
BJP national president Nitin Nabin also met the party’s national general secretaries at the headquarters. Those present included Smriti Irani, the general secretary in charge of Uttar Pradesh, Biplab Kumar Deb, the party’s Madhya Pradesh in-charge, and Tarun Chugh, the Gujarat in-charge and Central Office in-charge.
NABIN: ‘DEMOCRACY IS IN SAFE HANDS’
On Wednesday, Nabin defended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership at the “Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy” padyatra in Chandni Chowk. “Democracy is in safe hands,” he said. “If democracy is in the hands of PM Narendra Modi, then democracy is absolutely safe.” He said the people know that the 140 crore people of the country are the family of “the son of the soil.”
He then turned on Rahul Gandhi. “The so-called people who speak for democracy, LoP Rahul Gandhi walks around with a copy of the Constitution,” he said. “Actually, he doesn’t care about the Constitution.” If the Congress keeps believing Gandhi, he said, “Congress party will be wiped out.”
THE OPPOSITION’S PLANS
The INDIA bloc plans a public impeachment-style programme against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence at 10 Rajaji Marg in New Delhi on Friday, October 30, at 3.30 pm. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh announced it on X, alleging that the CEC had violated the Constitution and undermined electoral democracy.
The Congress has also planned a “Dilli Chalo” march and a public gathering at Ramlila Maidan on November 1 to protest against the SIR and the Election Commission of India.
Delhi Police has issued a no-objection certificate on law-and-order grounds for the rally, subject to prior permission from the land-owning authority and to conditions that include ending the gathering by 5 pm and no overnight stays at the venue. The rally will run from 10 am to 5 pm.
