Opposition sticks to SIR, but some feel Trump tariffs needs priority

On Thursday the Opposition INDIA bloc continued stalling Parliament over its demand for a discussion on the election commission’s special intensive revision of Bihar’s electoral roll but some leaders felt the US tariffs need priority.
The INDIA bloc seems likely to stay with the SIR issue as per views emerging from discussions among parties on Thursday. In the afternoon some MPs felt the heightening confrontation between India and the Trump administration needed to be taken up.
Their view was that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s combative statement that India will not compromise on the interests of farmers, fishermen and the dairy sector and that he is ready to pay a personal price had elevated the confrontation with Trump. It would be times to demand an explanation and a discussion they felt.
