OpenAI has released the latest edition of its bestselling generative artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot with ChatGPT 5 and it might just have a stronger focus towards India. Sam Altman, the CEO of the company, said at the launch that India is now the second largest market for them after the United States and may even become the largest in future.
ChatGPT 5 is said to be a big leap over its previous edition. It is being compared to a PhD level assistant. The company wrote on its website, ‘GPT‑5 not only outperforms previous models on benchmarks and answers questions more quickly, but—most importantly—is more useful for real-world queries. We’ve made significant advances in reducing hallucinations, improving instruction following, and minimizing sycophancy, while leveling up GPT‑5’s performance in three of ChatGPT’s most common uses: writing, coding, and health.’
Hallucination is the predilection for such chatbots to make up false information because it has to come up with an answer it doesnt know. With ChatGPT 5, OpenAI says that it is as much as 45 percent less likely to do so than an earlier GPT-4o model. Given how heated the AI field is, with the number of companies, including Google, Meta and XAi, there is not really much to differentiate between them as each brings in better models. ChatGPT 5 will help OpenAI maintain some of its first-mover advantage for the time being but others are furiously developing better performing models.
The base version of ChatGPT 5 is already available for free. Paid subscribers get a better performing model and greater access time.
