Janhvi Kapoor

She may be the picture of urbane gloss in Hindi cinema but Janhvi Kapoor is decidedly more rustic in her appearances in Telugu cinema.

A case in point is the forthcoming movie ‘Peddi’ with Ram Charan, where the camera is entirely focused on her bare midriff. The actress plays Achiyyamma, Ram Charan’s love interest, which means every shake of the pelvis from the hero has to be matched by a corresponding movement from the heroine.

 The Making of a Star

Shweta Basu Prasad

Shweta Basu Prasad has been an actor of note since her appearance as a child in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Makdee (2002), but with her performance in Season 4 of Maharani, she has become a real star. The actress plays the role of Roshni Bharti, the daughter of Bihar’s chief minister, with a mind of her own. Prasad has done spectacular work in Iqbal (2005) and Serious Men (2020) but keeps a low profile, practising on her sitar, doing her yoga and being part of a book club. Amitav Ghosh is her favourite author and on her bedside table is Kiran Desai’s The Loneliness of Sonia and Sunny. Prasad is also writing a film which she intends to direct.
