Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies and Research: Future Proof

SYMBIOSIS INSTITUTE OF COM­PUTER STUDIES AND RESEARCH (SICSR), a constituent of Sym­biosis International (Deemed University), was established in 1985 with the aim of churning out future leaders for the Information Technology (IT) industry worldwide. IT is a rapidly changing field where new concepts and technologies are constantly emerging and are leading to new products and innovative applications. IT also plays a vital role in the development of next-generation technologies in other disci­plines. IT has become a critical tool for economic, business and social develop­ment and will play a pivotal role in the nation’s progress.

We offer a complete portfolio of IT education, including undergraduate programmes like Bachelor’s in Business Administration (Information Tech­nology) and Bachelor’s in Computer Applications, full-time postgraduate programmes like Master’s in Business Administration (Information Tech­nology), Master’s in Business Admin­istration (Digital Transformation) and Master’s in Science (Computer Applica­tions). We use a holistic approach while designing the programme structures, which provides a strong foundation for higher studies, smart careers in IT, busi­ness administration and the develop­ment of entrepreneurial skills. Besides conducting regular sessions, we train the students with the help of disserta­tion, projects and industry internships.

The BCA and BBA (IT) programmes at SICSR offer the pre-qualification for professionals heading for smart careers in techno-management. These programmes build the foundation for higher studies in content manage­ment systems, mobile computing, game designing, network and operat­ing system administration, cloud infra­structure management, commerce and management.

The MBA (Information Technol­ogy) and MBA (Digital Transforma­tion) programmes nurture students with a blend of technical expertise and managerial skills that help them understand the business aspects of the IT industry. There is a huge demand for blended talent—an arena where SICSR excels by providing industry-focused specialisations, including Data Sci­ence, Data Analytics, Banking and Financial Markets, Digital Marketing, Software Process Management, and IT Infrastructure Library.

MSc (Computer Applications) of­fers specialisations in Software De­velopment and Data Science. This provides an exploratory environment to prepare the students for real-life sce­narios. The courses and co-curricular activities prepare the students for tak­ing up roles such as Software Devel­oper, System Security Administrator/Engineer, Network Security Special­ist/Engineer, Data Centre Engineer, Security Engineer/Penetration Tester/Architect, etc.

Over the years, SICSR has stitched tie-ups with various international uni­versities, such as Berlin School of Eco­nomics and Law (BSEL), Germany, and Dauphine University, France, among others. We also offer a Global Immer­sion Programme (GIP) that provides students with an opportunity to study abroad for a semester. SICSR students have successfully completed the GIP programme at foreign universities like Leeds Beckett University, UK, and Ritsu­meikan University, Japan.
Being a 37-year-old institute, we have a strong alumni base. Many of our alumni are working in top IT compa­nies like Google, Microsoft, Apple, Am­azon, Facebook/Meta, Oracle, IBM, In­fosys, Red Hat, Deloitte, Sybase, Byju’s, and others. Our alumni also contribute in the programme structure and sylla­bus designing, guiding the students for their professional growth.

Most of SICSR’s faculty members have expertise in the latest tech­nologies. To bridge the gap between industry and academia, we invite in­dustry experts to engage in regular lectures at SICSR. The institute has been associated with various profes­sional bodies, such as the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineer­ing, the Association for Computing Machinery, and various open source communities.

As a part of continuous improve­ment, we conduct guest lectures, qual­ity improvement workshops for stu­dents and staff and faculty development programmes.
