What’s in a Message?

SHE’S BEAUTIFUL, she’s single, and she’s looking for love after years of surviving abuse. Of course, she will soon be in trouble. Meghann Fahy, the breakout star of The White Lotus Season Two, plays a widowed mother on a date with a reasonably personable man (Brandon Sklenar, last seen in the controversial It Ends With Us). But then her phone starts to misbehave, sending her threatening messages. The caller instructs her to tell nobody or her younger sister Jen and her son will be killed. It culminates with her being told to kill her date. Fahy has been bub­bling under since The Bold Type so it is time for her to blossom. Quick cuts, a series of drops on the phone, and a beau­tiful vulnerable woman who only wants a night out. Part thriller, part story of our times, Drop is eminently watchable with a charged atmosphere in a swish restaurant setting.
