Losers Back Home, On Top in Thailand

Everyone in Thailand is hiding from some­one or looking for something. And with that, we’re off on another trip into eat-the-rich terri­tory, this time in Thailand where Losers Back Home are living it up with women half their age. We have the usual suspects: rich white family with perfect looking children (the par­ents are Jason Isaacs and Parker Posey), three childhood friends trying to reconnect on a girls’ trip, the masseuse from Season One who got shortchanged by the late Tania (the great Jennifer Coolidge) and a mysterious middle-aged man who is out of his league at this super rich wellness resort. The week will change their lives and as every episode drops every week, the old fashioned way, leaving us addicted again to Mike White’s world. It is full of angry rich men, bored white women, and troubled young adults, one of whom is a speci­men this season, played with feral focus by Patrick Schwarzenegger. Episode one itself has a few surprises so expect many more, but be sure that someone will go home in a body bag. The monkeys, real and carved in stone, lend an air of suspense, like the music. Shot mostly at night, the series looks set to occupy mindspace even in our cluttered heads.
