Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, and Joseph Quinn in The Fantastic Four
The Fantastic Four: First Steps | Director: Matt Shakman | Cast: Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn | English
Superheroes are normally lonesome creatures, hiding in caves or trying hard to resolve their alien and human selves. But Marvel’s Fantastic Four have always been a family of sorts, fighting the world and its evil, while also making sure they have dinner together. And in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, the casting is perfect. The internet’s favourite daddy, Pedro Pascal is Mr Fantastic; Vanessa Kirby, so magnificent as the self-destructive Princess Margaret in The Crown, is a pregnant Sue Storm here, rocking the blue costume. Then there’s The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) with his sad, disfigured face and the Human Torch, played by Joseph Quinn. It is all about the family especially when they are challenged by a ravenous space god who wants to consume the earth, helped along by the enigmatic Silver Surfer. Pascal has had a fantastic year, showing off his range, from the second season of The Last of Us, to the romantic Materialists and Ari Aster’s Eddington. Can’t wait to see what he does next.
