Unmukt Unbroken

When Unmukt Chand captained India’s Under-19 team to the World Cup in 2012, he had the world at his feet. But in 2021, he moved to the US. What went wrong? Unbroken: The Unmukt Chand Story captures the cricketer in his most vulnerable moments in a riveting documentary. Directed by Raghav Khanna, the film follows the cricketer and his family through their lows, showing the love and resilience required to keep a competitive sportsman going. “It’s a story that transcends sport,” says Khanna. The documentary shows that life is not merely about success.
Santhy’s World

Santhy Balachandran won a scholarship to Oxford and would have completed her doctoral thesis on the representation of diasporic Indian culture if she hadn’t decided to act. Balachandran’s anthropological training helped her co-create the world of the Malayalam fantasy Lokah. In Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, she took the concept of the yakshi and transformed her into a benign spirit. In the new chapters, Lokah will explore the chathan and the odiyan. “With people repeating lines from the film, and Amul using the film on their billboard, I couldn’t be happier,” says Balachandran. “Lokah shows if an idea is exciting it can work, even if doesn’t have a precedent.” Made on a budget of ₹30 crore, Lokah has raked in ₹250 crore at the box office so far.
