Rajshri Deshpande: America Calling

 

 

Rajshri Deshpande has got her union card in the US and she is doing what she loves, acting. It is a film with Suraj Sharma and it’s called ‘Retrace’. Deshpande was brilliant in a lot of streaming work, most notably Trial by Fire, but like many actors she found herself out of work, edged out by stars or influencers with big social media following. Instead of moping though, she has changed geographies. America, despite the pushback against diversity in Washington, still wants more representation for ethnicities than before.

Saif Ali Khan plays Sukumar Sen, the first chief election commissioner.

Freida’s Back

She became a star with Slumdog Millionaire and if you haven’t heard of Freida Pinto in the last few years, it’s because she has been busy getting married and having a baby. Now she is back on the screen as the character Grace in the second season of Surface on Apple TV+. The show stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw, as Sophie, investigating her past. This takes her deep into the English aristocracy which Grace is marrying into.
