The Family Man’s third season sets up Manoj Bajpayee in conflict with Jaideep Ahlawat, but its trailer promises much more. The delicious Nimrat Kaur, seen as Rani Sahiba in JioHotstar’s Kull, is seen in her Homeland avatar dressed in scarlet and sipping tea, while listening intently to Bajpayee. Kaur, a breakout star since The Lunchbox (2013), needs to be cast more often.
Second Coming
Ibrahim Ali Khan
After the terrible reviews he got for his first film, this year’s Nadaaniyan on Netflix, Ibrahim Ali Khan has a chance to redeem himself in the forthcoming ‘Sarzameen’ with Prithviraj Sukumaran and Kajol. Ibrahim, or Iggy as he is called on social media, plays a young terrorist in what seems an intense thriller.
Chitrangada Comes Full Circle
Chitrangada Singh
Everything comes full circle, eventually. Chitrangada Singh has lived with comparisons to Smita Patil since she debuted as Geeta Rao in the magnificent Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi in 2003. She was meant to be in Dedh Ishqiya (2014), directed by Abhishek Chaubey. It didn’t happen in a career that has always seemed ahead of its time. But now she has reunited with Chaubey, who is one of the producers of MacGuffin Pictures. The other producer is Honey Trehan. Trehan is directing her in Netflix’s ‘Raat Akeli Hai 2’, which sees the return of Nawazuddin Siddiqui as Inspector Jatil Yadav in another case. Chitrangada has had a busy year, with roles in Khakee: The Bengal Chapter and in Housefull 5, and hopes to do much more.
