Indira Tiwari is the star of ‘Spying Stars’, a unique collaboration of India, Sri Lanka and France, which is travelling to the competition section of the Busan International Film Festival. A gradu- ate of the National School of Drama, Tiwari first caught everyone’s attention in Sudhir Mishra’s Serious Men and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi, and is stunning as a scientist in ‘Spying Stars’. The film is directed by Vimukthi Jayasundara and produced by Nila Madhab Panda. The actress is fully engaged in the ideas in the movie, from AI to living with nature, to a life of slowness and earning her mother’s praise. Introspective, spiritual, and now fully embracing her gorgeous curls, Tiwari loves staring out of the window looking at life going on below, and bringing characters to life.
FTII Student Star
Milan Karangiya
Milan Karangiya’s documentary film, The Old Bull Knows, Or Once Knew, has been selected for competition in the Nest Section at the 73rd San Sebastian International Film Festival. The FTII student went to MS University after study- ing at Army Public School in Gangtok, and is hoping his short film wins big.
Superhero Kalyani
Kalyani Priyadarshan is the star of the week, with
a stirring performance in Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra. The `30-crore film, which is the start of a super- hero franchise, frontlines Kalyani as Chandra, who saves the boy-next-door rather than the other way round. With her Gothic make-up and her sombre look, Kalyani, who is the daughter of filmmaker Priyadarshan, is miles away from the everywoman she usually portrays. Her other Onam release is Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira, with Fahadh Faasil.
