UK-based Skytrax, a company that audits the quality of air travel around the world, has adjudged Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi Airport the best airport in India.
It seems the news about Indian airports is changing. One of ours has finally become newsworthy for the right reasons. UK-based Skytrax, a company that audits the quality of air travel around the world, has adjudged Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi Airport the best airport in India. Skytrax looks at more than 620 airlines and 645 international airports every year, and it awards what is considered the industry’s most widely judged awards. Hyderabad’s Best Airport India prize was based on over 9.8 million votes of travellers from some 100 countries. As the awards were given out at a ceremony in Brussels last week, the Skytrax website was flooded with reviews of the south Indian jewel: ‘The best airport in India. Easy entry with lots of check-in desks… airport is spotless and well maintained. There are many eateries and shops that cater to every taste,’ read one review posted by Saketh Ram. While Hyderabad emerged as the best in India, Singapore’s Changi was picked winner of the World’s Best Airport Award 2010.
